The CRL are proud to announce that they have become the second annual winner of the Rugby League Planet’s development fund. The development fund was set up by Rugby League Planet last year to aid the progress of emerging nations. The CRL was voted as the most deserved recipient of the grant by the Rugby League Planet members that have donated towards the fund. Jamaica were the inaugural winners in 2011, while ironically, the CRL beat recent Canada Wolverines opponents Lebanon to win the 2012 grant.
Rugby League Development Fund members have really been impressed with the progress Canada has made in such a short period of time. Canada now boasts nine club teams and attracted over 4,600 spectators in their recent match against Jamaica.
CRL Chairman Eric Perez commented “I am absolutely delighted for CRL to receive such an amazing grant. We appreciate the impetus and enthusiasm from everyone at Rugby League Planet, and the generosity of the Development Fund members. It's brilliant to be recognized by Rugby League fans worldwide, for all the hard work that has been put in by the CRL team. A massive thank you to Rugby League Planet, and all of its Development Fund members."
