Bobcats set to become first domestic club

Rugby League in Canada continues to make progress towards the re-establishment of a domestic league with the formation of the St Catharines Bobcats Rugby League club.

The club, based in the Niagara region of Ontario, over an hour south of Toronto, has been boosted by the recruitment of Canada’s most capped Rugby League player, Josh Canning.

Canning, will join current CRL Development officer, Chris Diamond, and CRL Referees Director, Paul Byrne, in running the new club, which is aiming to play competition matches later this year.

The Bobcats club will conduct their first training session this Wednesday, June 30 at Montebello Park starting at 7pm, with all interested players and officials invited down to participate.

Participants who take part in the St Catharines training sessions will also be eligible for Canada first clash in the War of the Shore tournament in late July.
