Support from the Engage Super League for
the newly formed Canada Rugby League continues to grow, with the Salford City
Reds becoming the latest club to show their support for the North American
league.
A keen supporter of international rugby league development, with partnerships
already in place with the Jamaican Rugby League and American National Rugby
League, Salford join St Helens in teaming up with Canada for season 2010.
As part of a recent trip to England,
Canada Rugby League’s Chris Diamond was thrilled to spend some time in one of
the world’s strongest rugby league footholds of Lancashire, UK.
During this visit, Mr Diamond was fortunate
to be welcomed by the Salford club and help
finalise the partnership at one of great homes of rugby league, The Willows
Stadium. As part of the arrangement, Salford
has provided to the Canada Rugby League training gear and Rugby League balls.
Commenting on the new arrangement, Canada Rugby League President, Jamie Lester
said “This is a major boost to the Canada Rugby League, in particular for our
planned first match at the AMNRL’s ‘War at the Shore’ tournament in New Jersey
later this year”
“To gain the support of a professional club like Salford City Reds, is a major
boost to all the hard work everyone is doing in Canada, and speaks volumes about
the club’s commitment to the development of rugby league around the globe.” |
